LOCATION : KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL | Pharmacy

POSITION STATUS: 0.60 | Permanent; Pharmacist I- Oncology


SALARY RANGE: BU13 | SR22

SALARY RATE: $37,857.60 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE

SHORTAGE DIFFERENTIAL : $2,745.60/month + $399.99/month Temporary Shortage Differential


JOB DUTIES: This position interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. The position will primarily work with the outpatient infusion center and oncology department working 8-hour shifts on weekdays, but may work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays and may require standby and call-back duty.


THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate or Pharm.D degree in pharmacy.


LICENSE REQUIREMENT: A valid license with the State of Hawaii as a Pharmacist at the time of appointment.


PROFESSIONAL PHARMACIST EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of full-time work experience as a license pharmacist is required. ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residency Preferred; Oncology experience Preferred.


NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE: Pre-license experience performed to meet licensing requirements is not qualifying to meeting professional pharmacist experience requirements.


SUPERVISORY APTITUDE: Applicants must possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, previous work experience in a position that demonstrates or performs supervisory functions or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.


KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
KNOWLEDGE OF: The principles and practices of professional pharmacy and their application to the operation of a pharmacy; specialized sciences directly applicable to pharmacy, such as pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, toxicology and therapeutics; pharmaceutical instruments and techniques used in compounding. Knowledge of preparation of sterile admixture and sterile technique.

Knowledge of USP Chapter 797 and USP Chapter 800 required. Employees must adhere to all rules and regulations regarding personal hygiene and garbing as detailed in USP Chapter 797 when working in the clean room. Employees must adhere to all requirements regarding proper PPE when handling or compounding hazardous materials as detailed in USP Chapter 800.
ABILITY TO: Apply acquired knowledge to pharmacy processes such as reading and interpreting prescriptions, instructions and procedures; keep records and prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationship with medical and administrative personnel within the facility.
