Job Description

ABOUT FAST FORWARD

Fast Forward launched in 2014 with a simple belief: tech can help solve the world’s biggest challenges. Back then, the intersection of tech and social impact was still undefined. The term “tech nonprofit” didn’t even exist. So, we coined it and founded Fast Forward to support the builders using tech for social good.

Since then, Fast Forward’s annual flagship Accelerator has supported an impressive portfolio of 100+ tech nonprofit builders with funding, resources, and partnerships. The result? 262M lives impacted and $1B+ in follow-on funding for tech nonprofits raised to date. Outside of the Accelerator, Fast Forward is growing the sector by offering the world’s 1,000+ tech and AI-powered nonprofits resources and tools to scale. Learn more.

THE POSITION

Fast Forward is looking for a Graphic Designer, a creative force who uses design and narrative to champion the tech for good movement. This role reports to the Senior Content Marketing Manager.

You’ll bring Fast Forward’s brand to life across everything we do — from high-profile events like Demo Day to digital campaigns that spotlight tech nonprofit founders changing the world. One day you might be designing a landing page or crafting a short video, the next you’re refining deck templates or concepting visuals for a major event. Every project connects back to one purpose: making the tech for good movement impossible to ignore.

You’re the kind of person who gets equal joy from crafting the perfect layout, organizing an asset library, and designing a campaign that makes people feel something. You thrive on collaboration, find satisfaction in creating tools that make the whole team shine, and bring curiosity and creativity to every project.

A portfolio of 2-4 design and writing samples is required with your application. Writing samples can be short-form (think social media captions or ad copy) or embedded within your design work (think headlines or copy on a graphic). For each piece, briefly outline the project objectives, your design process, and the measurable impact or outcomes achieved.

This is a full-time, in-office role based in the Presidio in San Francisco, CA (no remote or hybrid options).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

BRAND & DESIGN SYSTEMS

  • Own brand design and creative execution for key moments, with assistance and advisory from the Senior Content Marketing Manager.
  • Keep the brand cohesive and beautiful across every channel (web, email, social, video, print).

CREATIVE PRODUCTION & STORYTELLING

  • Lead creation of multimedia assets that tell powerful stories.
  • Write and edit short-form content that pairs perfectly with visuals (i.e. social media graphics and ads).
  • Edit video clips for social media that highlight founders and Fast Forward’s impact.
  • Collaborate with and manage contractors for larger design projects or video productions.

CAMPAIGNS & EVENTS

  • Design marketing materials for program and product announcements, including emails, landing pages, and social assets.
  • Create materials for events, such as signage, decks, and flyers.
  • Manage print production for physical materials, ensuring colors, materials, and finishes meet brand standards.

DIGITAL & INTERNAL INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Create easy-to-use design templates so anyone on the team can produce on-brand materials quickly.
  • Build new website pages in Sanity.
  • Manage the internal digital content library and asset archives.
  • Develop new subbrand logos and visual identities when we launch major initiatives.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3-5+ years of experience in graphic design, visual storytelling, or creative production
  • Ability to connect storytelling and design, moving fluidly between the two
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools
  • Basic video editing skills (bonus: experience using After Effects)
  • A strong eye for detail, aesthetics, and alignment — you notice when something’s 3px off
  • Skilled collaborator who can take a creative brief and bring it to life
  • Curiosity and a commitment to improve, learn, and help others do the same
  • Mission-driven mindset with deep alignment with Fast Forward’s values and a belief in tech as a force for good

COMPENSATION

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 - negotiable depending on experience.

Note: In accordance with federal, state, and local safety guidelines, this role is expected to be performed in-person, in San Francisco.

Fast Forward is a social justice organization founded on the idea that those with proximity to the problem should have proximity to the power to fix them. Our true north is empowering tech nonprofit leaders with the tools, community, and capital they need to scale solutions for underserved groups, and we know that a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion is inextricable from that pursuit. Read our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Guidelines to learn how we approach DEI across our investments, community, and workplace.

Fast Forward is an equal opportunity employer.
