Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As a Sr. UX Writer, you will be a valuable member of Project Kuiper’s Commerce team, and craft simple, straightforward, and human copy copy across the web, app, customer support and technician applications to create delightful experiences across the globe. In this role, you will work directly with UX, product, and engineering to deliver engaging user experiences, as well as translating writing guidance to help UX writing scale while raising the bar. You will define and create standards, patterns, and mechanisms to elevate and scale our UX writing to be crisp, clear, and transparent.

As a Sr. UX Writer, you will own the messaging guidelines, patterns and frameworks to best support Kuiper customers and associates across their entire experience journey.

A successful candidate will be curious, creative, highly analytical and be able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large and growing cross-functional team across UX, Product, Engineering, and Marketing. We are looking for a Sr. UX Writer who is a systems thinker and highly skilled at creating content frameworks that can be scaled across surfaces and workflows. UX Writers who have experience planning, writing and scaling UX writing design guidelines and templates are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed and has experience proactively gathering research and data about the products and services to which you provide content to inform your decisions. The successful candidate must be capable of synthesizing a variety of inputs into experiences and designs that customers love!

Key job responsibilities
- Communicate complex concepts clearly by crafting content for a broad suite of products serving consumers and enterprise customers.
- Create product content that is clear, helpful, human, scalable, and inclusive, being mindful of internationalization and the nuances and interpretations of language.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (designers, researchers, product managers, and engineering), driving consensus across teams and advocating for solutions that balance customer needs and business goals.
- Earn trust with product managers to develop shared vision and use research and data to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
- Develop content frameworks, guidelines, product narratives, and other deliverables that explain your recommendations and help people understand the practice of UX writing and content strategy.
- Work in a start-up style environment, where iteration is encouraged, thinking long-term and strategically while still achieving quick wins and short-term objectives.
- Make sure that customers have the right information at the right time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of experience in UX writing or content design
- Have an available online portfolio
- Well-honed ability to craft impactful communications across a spectrum of styles and genres
- Impeccable attention to detail; excellent grammar and writing skills
- Experience creating terminology and usage lists, content patterns, and UI text style guidelines
- Strong bias for action and the ability to prioritize competing to meet deadlines
- Proven success at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working within rapid, iterative design and agile development processes
- Hands-on experience with: Design systems and tools such as Figma, content inventories and audits, content mapping and modeling, voice and tone guidelines, and governance documentation
- Successful delivery of multi-channel content strategy for a global audience
- Experience writing for consumer and/or enterprise products
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions
- Leadership capabilities, as well as a willingness to work outside of a typical content role to deliver holistic solutions to customer problems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
