Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time contract opportunity is for a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide 1:1 support to two high school students in a K-12 school setting located in Summerville, SC. The role is onsite and focused on facilitating effective communication for students in 9th and 11th grades. This position runs during the school year (CSY) and requires a commitment to enhance the educational experience of students through skilled interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct sign language interpretation for two high school students in various classroom and school activities
• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Support the educational team in meeting individualized student needs
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Adhere to school policies and procedures relating to student support services

Qualifications and Experience:

• Possession of a Bachelors degree (required)
• Preferred: EIPA rating of 3.5 or higher (not mandatory)
• Proven ability to work closely with high school students in a K-12 environment
• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language and interpretation techniques
• Ability to work onsite full time during the school year
