Job Description

About Sculpta

Sculpta is a VC-backed, Stanford spinout biotech startup based in San Francisco, pioneering RNA-based precision medicines for brain diseases. Founded by a physician-scientist and former Stanford professor with publications in Nature , Cell , and Science , our team blends deep scientific expertise in RNA biology, brain organoids, transcriptomics, and machine learning.

We’ve just closed our first round of funding and are building a transformative platform for brain health. This is an inflection point — and you’ll be joining us at exactly the right moment.

The Role

This is not a typical operations role. As Operations Associate , you'll plug directly into the heart of a newly funded biotech startup, working side-by-side with the founder. You can be fully remote, but if you happen to be in SF, we are located in Mission Bay and have some work space available. You’ll help shape the systems, strategy, and external presence of a company with big ambitions — and get an unfiltered look at what it takes to launch a science-driven venture from scratch.

We're looking for someone intense, adaptable, and sharp — who thrives in chaos, communicates with clarity, and wants real responsibility from Day 1. You’ll grow with the company and see the tangible impact of your work in building and sustaining a high-functioning organization.

What You'll Do

  • Investor Relations: Manage communications, draft updates, and support investor engagement and outreach
  • Digital Presence: Help maintain and update our website, assist with messaging and light branding work
  • Legal & IP Support: Coordinate logistics around trademarks, patents, contracts, and legal counsel
  • Internal Systems: Build and improve tools and workflows (Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Operational Glue: Keep the ship running — organize documentation, scheduling, project management
  • Founder Support: Work directly with the founder on high-priority tasks across functions
  • Communications: Manage service provider communications effectively and negotiating pricing.
  • Lab support : Working directly with scientists to enable research operational efficiency.

Who You Are

  • Mix of high EQ, professionalism, a sense of urgency, and a passion for biotech
  • You want to melt your interests in science and business in a brand new, VC-backed biotech startup with major ambitions
  • You understand (or are quick to learn) the language of startup culture, biotech, biology, drug discovery, and venture capital
  • Exceptionally organized and attentive to detail
  • Communicates via email, text, slack etc with clarity and great effect
  • You are ready to do anything to support the team
  • Ready to gain a toe-hold in the real world of biotech and learn from a well connected founder
  • Comfortable with organizational tools
  • Demonstrated interest in both science and business operations.
  • You are trustworthy, highly responsible, and care about the people you work with

Qualifications

  • STEM Background: Pursuing or holding a Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in a STEM field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, bioengineering, computer science, etc.)
  • Front-Facing Ops Experience: Experience in operations, admin, communications, or coordination roles (e.g., student orgs, labs, internships, or startups)
  • Biotech Curiosity: Genuine interest in the business side of biotech — from IP to investors to innovation strategy
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: You speak and write clearly and confidently, and you're great with people
  • Execution-Oriented: You can juggle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and execute without hand-holding
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable picking up digital tools and organizing systems efficiently
