What to Expect Tesla is looking for a Manager, US Logistics to lead a dynamic team responsible for managing all aspects of inbound transportation from our supply base located in the US to support manufacturing and distribution globally. This leader sets the strategy and vision for a team of 9 logistics analysts working with different suppliers and carriers, tracking performance metrics associated to daily tracks and ensuring trends are heading in the expected direction. This role plays a critical part in driving performance improvement for Tesla's supply chain organization, increasing efficiency in the movement of parts across different value streams, with heavy collaboration with leaders of multiple groups: Material Planning, Production Control, Engineering, IT. As the team is in charge of coordinating with suppliers, carriers, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and compliant movement of specialized materials, the ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in logistics, transportation, route optimization, warehousing functions, regulatory environment and dangerous goods compliance. Someone willing to understand material flow and planning functions is key to move the team in the right direction. What You’ll Do Set the strategy and vision for a team of logistics analysts, inspiring them to exceed goals and unlocking new opportunities to develop them professionally. Represent logistics in leadership discussions around the supply chain of production and distribution parts for inbound flow from suppliers in the US. Align efforts with organizational goals to increase customer service while reducing cost through efficient management of internal resources and external partners. Collaborate cross-functionally with leaders in Material Planning, Analytics, Procurement, Production Control, IT, Finance to drive changes that optimize efficiency of end-to-end supply chain processes. Identify key opportunities for systems development, creating a clear and strong roadmap for transportation systems with IT and prioritizing efforts effectively. Develop and implement robust processes and systems that streamline the transportation of specialized goods, including route optimization for multiple destinations at the lowest cost and reverse logistics. Ensure full compliance with global regulations, including hazardous materials handling, export/import requirements, and industry-specific logistics standards. Collaborate closely with 3rd party logistics providers, internal teams, and Tesla warehouses to maintain a smooth flow of materials while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and optimal cost. Drive change and compliance with logistics metrics and goals, facilitating cross-functional meetings to address and resolve complex logistics challenges. Ability to influence others at all levels is a must in this role. Proactively identify and address operational needs, including process improvements, resource optimization, and compliance risk mitigation. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or relevant fields, or equivalent experience. 5 to 7 years of experience in logistics management, with a strong background in ground transportation, JIT, route optimization, fleet management and reverse logistics. 2 to 3 years minimum in a leadership role in transportation operations or related fields. Track record of success in managing end-to-end projects with high impact on efficiency metrics and cost reduction. Ability to influence others and understand top priorities of the organization and pivot accordingly. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy, while ensuring regulatory compliance. Deep knowledge of dangerous goods and DOT regulations as well as international trade best practices. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing compliance processes for hazardous materials and international shipments. Willingness to travel up to 20%.
