This position is responsible for LPN nursing services in a physician office practice to control patient flow for physician, obtain and document patient vitals, perform EKG strips, and other nursing duties as assigned. The Medical Assistant controls patient flow for providers, obtains and documents patient vitals, and performs other patient care and clerical duties. The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, the public and co-workers. LPN Essential Functions and Responsibilities include providing general nursing care, assisting physicians with examinations and treatments, obtaining patient history and vitals, scheduling appointments and surgeries, and working with third party payors for authorizations. MA Essential Functions and Responsibilities include greeting and escorting patients, reviewing patient charts, obtaining and documenting patient complaints and vitals, assisting providers with procedures, drawing blood, documenting activities in medical records, and assisting with scheduling. Qualifications for LPN include a valid Virginia LPN license and AHA BLS Provider CPR. MA qualifications include certification or training in medical assisting, AHA BLS Provider CPR, proficiency in clinical skills, and preferred experience in medical office settings and electronic medical records.
