LABORATORY MANAGER

Ardaman Houston office is seeking an experienced Geotechnical and Construction Materials Laboratory Manager. The ideal candidate should have a thorough knowledge of all types of testing and related equipment, including soil and rock testing, asphalt and concrete testing, and other specialized testing. They should also be familiar with laboratory maintenance, instrument calibration, and the safety protocols necessary for a laboratory environment. As the Lab Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the operations and management of our geotechnical and construction material testing laboratory, ensuring the highest quality standards and efficient workflow. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects and work with a dedicated team of professionals.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) working in a geotechnical or CMT laboratory.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in laboratory management software and data analysis tools.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience ordering equipment and setting up a Geotech laboratory is preferable.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as ASTM, AASHTO, USACE, ISO, or TxDOT.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 lb.
  • Excellent driving record within company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the daily activities of the geotechnical laboratory, including staff, equipment, and resources.
  • Develop and implement laboratory procedures, protocols, and quality control measures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Coordinate and perform geotechnical tests, including soil classification, compaction, permeability, consolidation, and shear strength.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, preparing comprehensive reports with detailed findings.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and regulations related to geotechnical testing and laboratory practices.
