This role is challenging, rewarding, and highly hands-on with dogs and their owners. We are looking for motivated individuals who want to build a long-term career in dog behavior, obedience, and client education.
Train, handle, and care for dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds
Work with a variety of dogs, including puppies, high-energy dogs, and basic behavior cases (advanced behavior modification ( aggression, anxiety) available after experience is earned)
Provide daily communication and updates to dog owners throughout each training program
Teach small group lessons at our training facility
Perform drop-offs and pick-ups with end of training turnover sessions with board-and-train clients
Practice safe handling and cleaning of training equipment
Attend company training events, continuing education opportunities, and community PR events
Collaborate with senior trainers and team members
Represent Off Leash K9 Training professionally in public, online, and with clients
Maintain accurate records, client communications, and training notes
Be hungry to keep learning — both dog training and human communication
Must live in the Spokane / Coeur d’Alene metro area
Must pass a background check
Able to board 1–2 dogs in your home for the 14-day or 4 week training programs
Reliable transportation + valid driver’s license
Smartphone
Basic understanding of social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube). We will train you on video, photo, and content creation.
Must complete and pass our 21-day New Trainer Certification Program (held in Spokane or at Off Leash HQ/Northern Virginia depending on availability)
Understand that and be available to work some weekends, evenings, holidays and peak training times (dog training follows client demand)
Comfortable working both at our training facility and independently from home as skills progress
As you gain experience and successfully train multiple dogs, you will earn more autonomy and work independently with clients.
New trainers work closely with senior staff and receive hands-on coaching for their first several dogs after certification.
Continuing education and skill development provided throughout the year via Off Leash K9 programs nationwide.

The right trainer can earn $35,000–$70,000+ per year , with opportunities to grow income based on performance and program volume. The opportunity to become a lead trainer or higher is based on leaning advanced skills and job performance.
