The Associate Director for Salk's Cancer Center reports directly to the CC Director and supports as a high-level advisor. This role is a key member of the CC's leadership, responsible for strategic initiatives, managing the NCI P30 Cancer Center Support Grant, and ensuring organizational alignment. The position involves grant-writing, managerial duties, and daily interactions within the CC and across the organization. The role begins January 1, 2025. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic plans and scientific vision in collaboration with the CC Director. Oversee all aspects of the CCSG, including management, submission, and compliance. Coordinate CC activities such as meetings, seminars, and symposia. Manage shared resources, outreach, diversity initiatives, and grant activities. Lead scientific and technical writing for grant proposals and reports. Organize site visits and serve as liaison to NCI and other stakeholders. Support program development, membership, and inter-institutional partnerships. Financial oversight and budget management for CCSG activities. Foster partnerships within Salk and externally to advance cancer research initiatives. Assist in large-scale grant applications and identify additional funding sources. Support governance activities, including EAB and executive committees. Manage education, training, diversity, and outreach programs. Develop communication strategies and support philanthropic efforts. Participate in strategic planning and special projects as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise staff in accordance with policies and laws, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in science, business, or related field. At least 7 years of experience in research administration, including grant preparation and budgeting. Minimum of 2 years supervisory or project leadership experience. Experience in large program development in academic or medical settings, preferably in an NCI-designated cancer center. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degrees (MPH, MBA, MS, PhD). Leadership experience in research administration at an NCI cancer center. Compensation and Benefits The salary range is $120,000 to $170,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
