We are looking for an Outby Foreman to join our underground team at our Blue Creek mine located in Berry, Alabama. Mining positions may be required to work various shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. As an Outby foreman you will need to have strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and teamwork spirit. You will also need to comply with all the relevant regulations, standards, and policies regarding mine safety, health, and environment for the daily operations in an underground coal mine. Responsibilities include following all applicable State and Federal safety rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and production goals, conducting proper examinations as required by State, Federal and Mine policy, coordinating preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment, conducting crew safety and safety meetings, training for safety, task, and operational needs, inspecting mine areas and equipment regularly, monitoring and controlling ventilation, water, and drainage systems, installing, maintaining, and recovering underground belts, coordinating with production and maintenance departments, training and evaluating the outby team, preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports, responding to emergencies, and other duties assigned by management. The candidate must have a valid Alabama Mine Foreman Certificate, proficiency in continuous mining equipment and systems, excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to safety, detail, and quality, and the ability to work under pressure in challenging environments. The role requires improving safety standards, ensuring adherence to workplace policies, maintaining high safety performance, identifying and reporting safety risks and incidents, attending safety meetings and training, investigating accidents and near misses, maintaining environmental awareness, and integrating environmental policies into all activities. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, walk for extended periods, navigate mine sections with varying clearance, wear protective equipment, bend or stoop, climb stairs and ladders, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in extreme conditions including dust, mud, noise, varying light, and confined spaces.
