Job Description The School of Animal Sciences is seeking applicants for an Agricultural Manager position to coordinate animal care activities, within the implementation of research protocols and serve as the intermediate between daily farm operations and the poultry programs. The candidate will be responsible for daily management and maintenance of facilities and oversee the welfare of poultry flocks associated with departmental research and teaching, helping to ensure that research and teaching protocols are maintained efficiently and accurately at the Paul B. Seigel Poultry Research Center. Additional duties include managing feed inventory, facility scheduling and billing. This individual will be required to effectively communicate across multiple farm users to ensure smooth farm operations. Furthermore, the candidate will assist and receive assistance from the diverse set of animal research units maintained by the Department. Required Qualifications B.S. or Associate degree (or equivalent applicable experience or training) with relevant experience in Poultry Science, Animal Science or a related field, Knowledge of farm operations, equipment, and maintenance including poultry physiology, environmental regulation, disease prevention, and biosecurity; Basic computer skills including email, and Microsoft Office applications; Capability of physical activity including lifting up to 70 lbs.; Valid driver's license; No exposure to any avian or swine species outside of the workplace. Preferred Qualifications Work experience in poultry and other farm species and specifically research animals with supervisory skills; demonstratable ability to work effectively across multiple farm units and ability to balance the diverse needs of the research and teaching faculty users. The ability or willingness to perform tasks such as vaccine administration, euthanasia, necropsy, and blood collection on research animals.
